Lt. Governor David Zuckerman Endorsed by VPIRG Votes
BURLINGTON: Today, VPIRG Votes, threw its weight behind Lt. Governor David Zuckerman in his bid for Governor of Vermont.
VPIRG Votes is the campaign arm of VPIRG, the largest environmental and consumer advocacy organization in Vermont with 50,000 members and supporters. VPIRG Votes’ goal is specifically to expand on VPIRG’s current work by supporting and electing public interest champions who will promote and protect the health of Vermont’s people, environment, and locally-based economy.
In an email to supporters and members today, Paul Burns, Executive Director of VPIRG said, “For nearly 25 years, David Zuckerman has been working Vermonters’ best friend in the State House, and we have been proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with him on issue after issue. You name it: the climate crisis, healthcare, GMO labeling, retiring Vermont Yankee, protecting the environment, promoting clean energy, addressing toxic threats to children, getting corporate money out of politics – David has been there for VPIRG and its members.
He has served in the House, the Senate, and the Lt. Governor’s office – all while running Full Moon Farm.
As governor, David will step up where Gov. Scott has failed. He will raise wages, create new jobs in renewable energy, and protect Vermonters from toxic polluters. We know he’ll challenge the special interests and fight for us.”
In response to this endorsement, Lt. Governor David Zuckerman said, “I have worked with VPIRG members on significant legislation over the years and I’m so proud to have their support. Together we have addressed issues from GMO labeling to campaign finance reform and from toxic chemicals to recycling laws to mitigating the climate crisis.VPIRG’s method of engaging and activating Vermonters on issues important to their lives is one of the strongest organizational models I can think of and I am thrilled their campaign arm is advocating for me.”
VPIRG Votes has dedicated itself to turn out thousands of new voters to support David and the public interest.
VPIRG Votes’ endorsement builds on a rapidly growing list of support for Lt. Governor Zuckerman.
