Lt. Governor Zuckerman Files Petitions to Run for Governor
BURLINGTON: Today, Lt. Governor Zuckerman filed petitions in person at the Vermont Secretary of State’s Office in Montpelier.
“I am excited to present these petitions, signed by more than 1,200 Vermonters from all corners of our beautiful state,” said Lt. Governor Zuckerman. “These were collected in the first two months of our campaign and I wanted to submit them out of respect for our democracy, the voters who took the time to sign them and the local volunteers who worked hard to collect them.”
Earlier this year, the legislature passed a bill waiving the 500 petition signature requirement for statewide office due to social distancing requirements of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite that waived requirement, after presiding over the Senate, the Lt. Governor, arrived at the office wearing a mask and following social distancing guidelines to deliver the large bundle of petition signatures he had collected prior to physical distancing.
Also submitted was an updated Candidate Registration Form listing Orly Munzing, a champion in the farming, business and environmental communities and Founder of Strolling of the Heifers, as the Campaign Treasurer.
“I am deeply honored to serve as Treasurer of Zuckerman for VT,” said Munzing. “As a farmer, small business owner and long time environmentalist with a deep commitment to building resilient communities, David Zuckerman will be an excellent Governor for the State of Vermont. His long history of working on issues Vermonters care about make him the perfect choice to take Vermont forward with vision and Vermont values.”
Official candidate consent forms were filed online as requested by the Secretary of State.
