Zuckerman For VT Staff Unionized

BURLINGTON: Today, the Zuckerman for VT campaign announced the unionization of its staff under the Campaign Workers Guild.

Emilie Krasnow, the campaign’s Social Media Coordinator and lead negotiator for the contract, said, “As staff, we felt it was important for our campaign to be unionized and are committed to fighting for all workers in Vermont. Every employee should have, as we do, a good paying job in which they feel respected, protected, and appreciated.”

The unionization contract between Zuckerman for VT and the Campaign Workers Guild included a number of key components that align with Zuckerman’s platform. First and foremost, the contract guarantees that “all employees will be paid no less than $15 per hour,” a minimum wage that Zuckerman has been on the forefront of advocating for during his service in the legislature and for the last four years as Lt. Governor. The contract also ensures that no excessive pay gap exists between the lowest and highest paid employees, implements strong anti- discrimination and harassment policies, ensures paid medical and family leave, and offers health insurance to all employees.

Zuckerman for VT Campaign Manager, Megan Polyte, said, “Our campaign is reflective of David’s values and the values we want to see in the Governor’s office. The unionization process formally acknowledges the vital contribution of our staff and our commitment to them.”

The Campaign Workers Guild was founded out of the Bernie 2016 campaign. The Guild’s website describes that “...[campaign workers] stood together and founded the Campaign Workers Guild in order to protect and strengthen the rights of campaign workers. We represent workers across the country on electoral and issued-based campaigns and at permanent organizations.” The Zuckerman for VT staff and management expressed their commitment to and appreciation for the work of the guild.
