Lt. Governor David Zuckerman Endorsed by the VT AFT

BURLINGTON: Today, the Zuckerman for VT campaign announced the endorsement of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). AFT Vermont is the state's fastest-growing union and represents 5,000 healthcare and higher education professionals. Delegates to the state convention voted to endorse David Zuckerman for Governor based on the union's legislative platform for a stronger Vermont.

"When the Vermont State Colleges were under threat, Lt. Governor Zuckerman was right there with us, as a champion for public higher education. His commitment to support universal pre-k and after school programs and free in-state college tuition are the kind of leadership that will strengthen our state and all of our communities."--Dr. Linda Olson, AFT Vermont Vice President for Higher Education

"As a nurse in the medical intensive care unit at Vermont's largest hospital, I have seen firsthand Lt. Governor Zuckerman's unwavering commitment to frontline health professionals and our fight for quality patient care.  We need a Governor who will stand with us and who will lead with the understanding that every Vermonter has a right to healthcare."--Deb Snell, RN, AFT Vermont President.

In response to the AFT Vermont endorsement, Lt Governor David Zuckerman said: “Our healthcare workers and our teachers have been essential workers for decades. This year, they have been challenged beyond belief by the coronavirus pandemic and the daunting task of taking care of our sick and vulnerable and educating Vermonters in rapidly changing and unpredictable environments. In the midst of this pandemic, I am honored to have received the AFT’s endorsement. I look forward to working with the AFT and Vermonters across the state as we build out of this pandemic together.”
