Lt. Governor Zuckerman Responds to the Veto Override on the Global Warming Solutions Act

BURLINGTON: Today, the Zuckerman for Vermont campaign commented on the legislative’ override of Phil Scott's veto of the Global Warming Solutions Act (GWSA). The GWSA is a popular and effective policy that has also been enacted in nearby states to hold politicians accountable in reaching bold, and necessary, climate goals.

Lt. Governor Zuckerman said “Vermonters and the legislators they elected overwhelmingly support addressing the climate crisis. The Global Warming Solutions Act is a necessary and important step in ensuring that Vermont meets our climate goals. Phil Scott’s veto of this vital legislation shows he is out of touch with Vermonters’ wishes for the future. As Governor, my administration will craft policy that reflects our collective goals and priorities for a healthy future”

Campaign Manager Megan Polyte said, “Phil Scott has demonstrated his lack of commitment to the climate crisis and protecting our environment. Instead of working collaboratively to craft the legislation that reflects our priorities, he continues to veto legislation that our state needs; an increase in the minimum wage, paid family medical leave, accountability for corporate polluters, and now the Global Warming Solutions Act. David Zuckerman will be a Governor who provides the leadership Vermonters deserve and will fight to protect our beautiful state and build our economy.”
