Lt. Governor Zuckerman Endorsed by Vermont State Employees’ Association
MONTPELIER: Today, the Zuckerman for VT campaign announced the endorsement of the Vermont State Employee Union. The VSEA has over 6,100 members and is the second-largest union in Vermont. They are committed to working for candidates they support and have already encouraged their members to vote in the August 11th Primary.
The VSEA released its endorsement with a quote from Aimee Towne, Interim President, stating, “In almost 25 years of service as an elected official, David Zuckerman has been a consistent champion for State employees, the Vermont State Colleges, and working people throughout our state. We are proud to endorse his campaign to ensure that working Vermonters will have a champion in the Governor’s Office.”
In response to the endorsement, Lt. Governor David Zuckerman said, “I have proudly stood with union workers across the state fighting for workers’ rights. I am honored to receive the Vermont State Employees’ Association endorsement and look forward to working with them as Governor.”
This endorsement is the fourth union endorsement received by the Zuckerman campaign. Lt. Governor Zuckerman is also endorsed by the Vermont A.F.L. C.I.O, AFSCME Council 93, and CWA Local 1400. No other gubernatorial candidate has been endorsed by a union in this race.
The Vermont State Employees Association builds on a rapidly growing list of support for Lt. Governor Zuckerman. Previous endorsements include: Sunrise Burlington, The National Solidarity Movement, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, VPIRG Votes, Our Revolution, Rights & Democracy, People for the American Way, the Vermont Sierra Club, Moms Demand Action, People’s Action, the Vermont A.F.L C.I.O, CWA Local 1400, AFSCME Council 93, the Champlain Valley DSA, Former U.S. Representative Dennis Kucinich, Ben Cohen & Jerry Greenfield, Bill McKibben, and over 150 Vermont legislators, former legislators, farmers, and teachers.
