Lt. Governor Zuckerman Endorsed by Three Former Governors
BURLINGTON: Today, the Zuckerman for VT campaign announced the endorsements of three former Vermont Governors: Former Governor Madeleine Kunin, Former Governor Howard Dean, and Former Governor Peter Shumlin.
Former Governor Madeleine Kunin said:
"I am endorsing David Zuckerman because of his support for raising the minimum wage, paid family and medical leave, and addressing climate change. These issues are important for Vermonters."
Former Governor Howard Dean said:
“I am pleased to endorse David Zuckerman for Governor. Although Vermont has done a great job with the Covid-19 epidemic, there is critical work to do in the areas of preventing climate change, cleaning up Lake Champlain, getting broadband, and jobs into the most rural parts of Vermont, and making affordable housing and child care a real priority. David has a solid track record on these issues, and I am voting for him because I do not believe we can put these things on the back burner any longer."
Former Governor Peter Shumlin said:
“Governors are tasked with the important job of listening to and learning from Vermonters as they preside over and lead this state. Throughout his years in public service, I have seen David demonstrate all of the right characteristics to listen and lead this state forward. In addition, his vision for Vermont aligns with the direction that Vermonters have consistently asked for, fought for, protested for, and voted for. I encourage all Vermonters to join me in voting for David Zuckerman for Governor on November 3rd.”
In response to these endorsements, David said:
“I am honored by the support of Governor Kunin, Governor Dean, and Governor Shumlin. I look forward to working with them, with legislators, activists, and organizers as Governor. Together, we will create a better future for all Vermonters.”
Lt. Governor David Zuckerman has also been endorsed by Senator Patrick Leahy, Senator Bernie Sanders, Representative Peter Welch, Attorney General TJ Donovan, Treasurer Beth Pearce, Auditor Doug Hoffer, Senate Pro Tempore Tim Ashe, Speaker of the House Mitzi Johnson, and over 100 current and former Vermont legislators.
