Zuckerman Campaign Exceeds Start-up Goals
BURLINGTON, VT – Today is the first campaign finance filing for the 2020 governor’s race in Vermont. Just two months after announcing he would run for Governor, Lt. Governor Zuckerman’s campaign has raised $156,811, approximately $78,400 per month. This includes:
1,122 individual donors hailing from all fourteen of Vermont’s counties
87% of our donors are from Vermont
An average donation amount of $109
Over $25,000 raised in the final 24 hours of the reporting period
In a thank you message to supporters sent out earlier today, Lt. Governor Zuckerman said, “I am humbled by the overwhelming support you have shown for our campaign. In the final 24 hours of the reporting period we received 169 donations! This is a grassroots campaign funded by Vermonters from across this state, not big money, not Super PACS, and not corporations. Your donations helped us exceed our start-up goals even before we have had our big campaign launching events! I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support my campaign is receiving and I look forward to working with and listening to all Vermonters in the weeks and months ahead.”
Chief of Staff, Megan Polyte, said, “I am so excited by the work we are going to accomplish together. We have a common vision for a Vermont that is diverse, healthy, green and full of economic opportunity. That vision motivates me and all of our staff each and every day. We are on the path to victory!”
Earlier this week, pointing to advice from key health organizations on ways to slow the spread of the Covid-19 virus, Lt. Governor Zuckerman suspended in-person group campaign activities and his planned launch events. Zuckerman asked all Vermonters and Vermont employers to take similar precautions to better protect all Vermonters, particularly those who are most at risk. The campaign is currently holding previously scheduled meetings virtually, and is in the process of scheduling telephone town halls to ensure Vermonters have opportunities to share their ideas. This practice will continue until it is safe to resume in-person meetings.
