MIDDLEBURY: This Thursday, environmentalist, author and founder of 350.org, Bill McKibben endorsed Lt. Governor David Zuckerman in his 2020 gubernatorial bid. The campaign announced the endorsement to their supporters via email and on social media.

“I've known David Zuckerman for a long time. He’s taken his real world farming experience and dedication to ‘local’ and ‘community’ to the Statehouse. In the best tradition of citizen legislators, he's made change that matters for the people who sent him. As we face the very real climate crisis, David can figure out how to turn it into an economic opportunity. And in a larger sense, he will end our pause on policymaking and start coping with the financial and demographic pressures we actually face. He will be a good steward for our nifty little state.” - Bill McKibben, Ripton

Commenting on the endorsement, David Zuckerman stated, “I am so appreciative of Bill’s leadership and for his endorsement of our campaign for Governor. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside Bill McKibben for many years. His national and international leadership to address the planetary climate crisis is bringing people together of all ages and backgrounds for what, in many ways, is the fight of our lives.”

The Zuckerman campaign also highlighted internal survey results of supporters that found they overwhelmingly ranked the environment is the top issue facing Vermont and emphasized the campaigns commitment to energy and environmental solutions. These specific solutions included: investing in a renewable energy future, drastically lowering carbon pollution and ensuring that corporate polluters, not working families, are the ones held responsible for making the needed investment in a green future.
