Zuckerman Breaks Fundraising Record and Gains Momentum

BURLINGTON: The Zuckerman for VT campaign has filed the first campaign finance report since the August 11th Primary, showing record-breaking fundraising for David Zuckerman and growing momentum.

August was the campaign’s best fundraising month to date. This reporting period, 1041 individual donors contributed a total of $112,344. This total is nearly twice as much as the campaign's preceding months’ fundraising totals, demonstrating the campaign’s momentum coming out of the August primary. In addition, the majority of support came from Vermonters, contributing 73% of the total.

“The fact that voters are willing to donate to a political campaign despite their own uncertain economic future means they care a great deal about the upcoming election and about the investment they wish to make in a better future,” said Lt. Governor David Zuckerman. "I am deeply appreciative of everyone who has contributed to our growing momentum, this is vitally important as we quickly approach the start of voting.”

The campaign has seen support growing as they began clearly contrasting the Lt. Governor David Zuckerman from the Governor on significant issues including jobs and the economy, the climate, and support for the Vermont State College System both at press conferences and through their extensive email and social media presence. The campaign is known for its quick reactions and innovative campaigning strategies. The Zuckerman for VT campaign held the first of its kind drive-in campaign rally in June and  yesterday, the campaign announced a fundraising raffle for “ZUCKERMANIA!” a one-of-a-kind flavor of “Ben’s Best” ice cream from Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's.

Since the August 11th primary the campaign has added significant endorsements including the entire Vermont federal delegation: Senator Leahy, Senator Sanders and Congressman Welch, as well as statewide leaders including Attorney General TJ Donovan, Treasurer Beth Pearce, Auditor Doug Hoffer, Speaker of the House Mitzi Johnson and Senate Pro Tem Tim Ashe, and Vermont Conservation Voters, the Working Families Party, and Sunrise Middlebury.

The Zuckerman for VT campaign has raised a total of $459,809 from 4,376 individual donors and spent $364,751. Lt. Governor David Zuckerman has never accepted corporate contributions in any of his thirteen campaigns for public service. The campaign ended the reporting period with a cash balance of $121,666.
