The Vermont Chapter of the Sierra Club Endorses Lt. Governor David Zuckerman for Governor

MONTPELIER: Today, the Vermont Chapter of the Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman in the Democratic Primary for Governor.

“We are confident that David Zuckerman will use the office of Governor to be a committed advocate for the environment, for social justice, for our economy, and for our future.  Lt. Governor Zuckerman has a long history of leadership as a grassroots advocate working with all Vermonters for just and equitable solutions to reduce Vermont’s carbon footprint, improve our working landscape, and defend civil rights. His advocacy and respect for the environment and social justice has earned David Zuckerman a rare primary endorsement by the Sierra Club,” said Rachel Stevens, Vermont Chapter Chair.

In response to the endorsement, Lt. Governor David Zuckerman said, “I want to thank the Vermont Chapter of the Sierra Club for their endorsement. Fighting for the climate and the earth was what first got me involved in politics in the 90s and I am honored to have been able to work with the Sierra Club for over two decades on this critical issue. I know that together, we can build a clean, green, renewable future for Vermont.”

The Sierra Club’s endorsement will bring substantial resources to Lt. Governor’s campaign. “We pledge to do all we can to help ensure that David Zuckerman is the Democratic nominee for Governor," said Steve Crowley, Vermont Chapter Political Committee Chair. He continued: “Sierra Club volunteers will contact voters on Zuckerman’s behalf and will speak publicly as often as possible about his exemplary record. The Vermont Sierra Club looks forward to working with Lt. Governor Zuckerman as the next Vermont Governor.”
