Lt. Governor Holds Vision Not Vetoes Press Conference

BURLINGTON: Today, on the Burlington waterfront, Lt. Governor Zuckerman held a “Vision Not Vetoes” press conference. The press conference was structured around Lt. Governor Zuckerman’s recent TV ad, also called “Vision not Vetoes.”

Lt. Governor David Zuckerman said, “Governing is about both handling emergencies...and looking ahead to avoid them.  It’s about presenting a vision to address the issues facing Vermont and Vermonters and then working with the legislature to find ways to accomplish that. It’s about investing in projects and programs today that advance the health and wellbeing of Vermonters and our environment into the future.”

He specifically pointed to the Governor’s lack of leadership on the climate crisis, the Vermont State Colleges, and updating needed technology and infrastructure.

Lt. Governor David Zuckerman was joined by:

House Speaker Mitzi Johnson

Sen. Philip Baruth, Chair of Senate Committee on Education

Representative Bill Lippert, Chair of the House Committee on Health Care, and

Representative Johannah Donovan, Ranking Member of House Committee on Ways and Means

Speaker of the House, Mitzi Johnson spoke about how important it is for Vermont to have a governor who will work in partnership with all branches of government and share a vision for our future. She specified that we need a governor who will work in partnership with the legislature to make Vermont a place that works for everyone and not just the select few.

Senator Philip Baruth pointed out that Governor Scott brought forward a budget that had $0 to support our State Colleges, even after a tri-partisan outcry to protect these educational institutions. Baruth described that instead of offering an idea of how to fund or enrich the system, Governor Scott waited for the legislature to find funding and then signed the budget.

The full remarks were shared on the Zuckerman for VT campaign Facebook page. If you would like a copy of David’s full remarks, please email kelt@zuckermanforvt.com
