Lt. Governor Zuckerman Earth Day Events
BURLINGTON: In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day this Wednesday, Lt. Governor Zuckerman is holding a week of earth and environment themed virtual events. These events are intended to provide Vermonters opportunities to connect to the Earth, discuss policies with an environmental lens, and celebrate together through virtual activities.
The week of information began on Saturday with an email from Lt. Governor Zuckerman sharing his long involvement in Earth Day celebrations and his history as an environmental activist. He wrote, “as a student at the University of Vermont, I was part of the team that organized Earth Day on campus in 1990. It was a music festival on the library green where we organized students to take action. There was tremendous environmental energy at the time. Over 1,000 students were engaged and mobilized that day.“ The message ended with a call to action from him, “On this coming Earth Day, please take a moment to pause and reflect on your own connection with the Earth.”
